Asset Location Map report
Your locations plotted on a map with the number of assets at each, and what to do about locations that will not appear.

The Asset Location Map plots your locations geographically and shows how many assets sit at each one. It answers the question a table cannot: where, physically, is everything.
It is most useful for organizations whose assets are spread out — multiple sites, yards, branches or job sites — where knowing that forty assets are at "North Yard" means less than seeing that North Yard is two hours from everything else.
How locations get onto the map
The map is built from the address on each location record, which AssetCenter converts to map coordinates for you. Nothing else is required: add a location with an address on the adding locations page and it appears.
Assets reach the map through their assignments. An asset assigned to a location counts toward that location's total, so the count reflects current assignments rather than history.
Locations that are not on the map
Any location that cannot be plotted is listed separately rather than quietly dropped, with the reason:
- No address on file — the location has no address. Add one by editing the location.
- Not geocoded yet — the address is there and is still being converted to coordinates. This resolves on its own.
- Address could not be found — the address was not recognized. This is usually a typo, an incomplete address, or a site with no postal address. Adding a nearby street or a postal code is normally enough.
You may also see assets grouped as no location assigned. Those are not a map problem: they are assets that have never been assigned to a location, and the fix is to assign them from the asset's actions button.
Some pins are marked as approximate. That means the address was matched to a general area — a town or a postal district — rather than a precise street address, so the pin shows roughly the right place. A more complete address will sharpen it.
Filters
Filter the map by category and by status to plot one kind of asset at a time. Filtering to a single category is the quickest way to answer questions like where the vehicles are, or which sites are holding laptops.
