The first setup step: create the asset categories that everything else in AssetCenter hangs off.

The asset categories settings page is the first step in getting AssetCenter set up. Before any assets can be created, you first need to create categories.
AssetCenter does not include any categories out of the box. This is by design, so that you can tailor it to your specific use case and industry. If you are using it for IT, you will set up Laptops, Desktops and Phones as categories. If you are using it for a fleet of vehicles, you may use Cars, Light Trucks and SUVs. It is fully flexible to however you plan to use the system.
