How we compared AssetCenter and Sortly

We reviewed Sortly's official pricing, feature, and asset-tracking pages alongside AssetCenter's current product and plan documentation. We compared the unit being tracked, mobile and scanning workflows, custody, history, purchasing, alerts, user and item limits, and pricing. We did not deploy both products in a controlled implementation or benchmark support.

• Starter and Growth plans have user-seat limits, so teams with many editors should price the required AssetCenter tier rather than comparing item allowances alone.

Pricing and plan structure

Sortly publishes a Free plan with 100 unique items, one user license, and two active jobs. Its standard monthly prices are listed as $49 for Advanced, $149 for Ultra, and $299 for Premium, while Enterprise is quote-based. The pricing page was also showing temporary first-year annual discounts when reviewed.

AssetCenter has a permanent Free account for 25 assets. Its published monthly plans begin at $39 for 250 assets and five user seats; larger plans increase both allowances, and Professional includes unlimited user seats.

The allowance is not directly equivalent: one Sortly unique item can hold a quantity, while one AssetCenter asset record represents one durable item. Compare the count produced by your actual import, not just the headline limits.

Which should you choose?

Choose Sortly if you:

• Need one mobile inventory for supplies, materials, stock, tools, and equipment.
• Rely on replenishment, quantity changes, stock counts, pick lists, or purchase orders.
• Want a visual folder-based catalog and native mobile apps.
• Can fit the required users, items, history, and integrations into the selected plan.

Choose AssetCenter if you:

• Track durable assets one by one and need a defensible custody and location history.
• Want maintenance, repairs, inspections, incidents, costs, documents, and disposal on one configurable timeline.
• Need physical equipment and recurring software subscriptions in the same system.
• Do not need warehouse stock or purchasing workflows in the asset register.

Test the decision with your own workflow

Use the same representative records in both trials. A useful evaluation should include:

1. Import serialized equipment and quantity-based supplies to see whether each product models both groups the way your team expects.
2. Scan a tag, hand an asset to a person, move it to a location, and return it.
3. Record a repair with cost, date, notes, and an attachment, then retrieve that evidence from the item history.
4. Invite the actual field users and confirm the necessary permissions and seats fit the intended plan.
5. Export the records and reports needed for an audit, renewal review, or accounting handoff.

Is Sortly only for consumable inventory?

No. Sortly explicitly supports tools, equipment, vehicles, IT assets, and other high-value assets as well as quantity-based supplies and stock. Its broader inventory model is the distinction, not an inability to track assets.

Does Sortly have a free plan?

Yes. At the review date, Sortly published a $0 plan with 100 unique items, one user license, and two active jobs. Quantities of a unique item do not count again toward the unique-item allowance.

Can AssetCenter replace a warehouse inventory system?

No. AssetCenter tracks durable assets and their accountability and lifecycle history. It does not manage replenishment, stock quantities, purchase orders, picking, sales orders, or fulfillment.
